CALGARY – Calgary Flames centre Olli Jokinen underwent surgery to repair a tear in an abdominal muscle this week.
The NHL club stated in a release that Jokinen played through the injury late in the season after first experiencing discomfort March 22 in a game versus the Minnesota Wild.
Rehabilitation is expected to be three-to-four weeks and doctors expect Jokinen to make a full recovery, the Flames said Friday.
The surgery was performed Tuesday in Philadelphia. Jokinen, 33, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
The Finn played all 82 games of the regular season and had 23 goals and 38 assists.
