Canada advances to semifinals after 5-1 over Swiss at world hockey tourney

Matthew Lombardi scored twice to lead Canada to a 5-1 quarter-final win over Switzerland today. Rick Nash, Jamal Mayers and Shea Weber also scored for the Canadians, who will play Sweden in the semifinals on Saturday.

Dwayne Roloson made 21 saves in the Canadian net while Jonas Hiller stopped 39 shots for Switzerland.

Canadian-born Paul di Pietro scored the lone goal for the Swiss.

In the other semifinal, Russia will play the winner of the U.S.-Finland quarter-final game.
