Canadiens centre Smolinski out six weeks with sprained right knee

MONTREAL – Centre Bryan Smolinski will be out for six weeks with a sprained right knee suffered Dec. 6 against Boston, the Montreal Canadiens announced Tuesday.

Winger Steve Begin, who suffered a separated left shoulder in the same game, will miss two to three weeks. Both players missed a second straight game Tuesday night. It was the first official word on the severity of the injuries.

Goaltender Cristobal Huet is also out with a pulled groin but is expected back on Saturday.

Forward Mikhail Grabovski, who was sent down to AHL Hamilton last week. sprained his right ankle in a game against Binghamton on Dec. 7 and is out indefinitely.
