MONTREAL – An ugly 6-3 loss in Toronto prompted the Montreal Canadiens to hold their first meeting of the season on Monday.
The coaches met with the players for an hour at the Bell Centre, mostly going over film of the many mistakes made in Toronto on Saturday night. That was followed by a practice that was far more intense than usual. The coaches asked for more effort, because talent alone will not win games.
“We wanted the players to know that we have a good team when we work hard,” said Carbonneau.
Defenceman Roman Hamrlik, who sat out the Toronto game with a minor injury, skated and is expected to play Tuesday night against the visiting Ottawa Senators.
Mathieu Dandenault is expected to start on the fourth line in place of Tom Kostopoulos, who was slapped with a three-game suspension on Monday for a hit from behind on Toronto defenceman Mike Van Ryn.
