Canadiens look to take advantage of reeling Lightning

Tampa Bay (6-14-8) at Montreal (16-6-5), 7:00 pm EST

MONTREAL (Ticker) — It has been a while since the Montreal
Canadiens have lost in regulation. It has been even longer
since the Tampa Bay Lightning have enjoyed success.

The Canadiens hope to win for the fifth time in six games when
they host the lowly Lightning on Thursday.

Montreal last fell in regulation on November 28, a 3-0 loss to
the Washington Capitals. Prior to that, its last defeat after
three periods came in a 2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on
November 18.

The Canadiens endured a pedestrian month of November, posting a
6-6-2 record. However, they have gotten off to a rousing start
in December with a 3-0-1 mark.

Their 4-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday enabled
them to improve to 9-2-3 at home.

The Lightning, however, have trudged through a miserable season.
They have dropped nine in a row and 14 of 15.

Tampa Bay’s 4-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday dropped
it to 1-7-4 since interim coach Rick Tocchet took over for the
fired Barry Melrose on November 14.
