VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Canucks acquired Andrew Peters from the Florida Panthers on Wednesday in exchange for veteran forward Darcy Hordichuk.
Peters, a six-foot-four 247-pounder, has seven points and 650 penalty minutes in 229 NHL games with Buffalo and New Jersey.
He signed a two-year deal with the Devils last season, but spent most of it in the AHL and was bought out. He then signed a two-way contract in Florida.
Hordichuk, who’s also 30, has 33 points and 998 penalty minutes in 431 NHL games with five teams, including 60 games with Florida over parts of the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.
Hordichuk, a six-foot-one 211-pounder, was entering the final season of a US$2.325-million, three-year contract with the Canucks. He did not play in the last post-season and lost his fourth-line job this pre-season.
