Canucks forward Ryan Kesler to undergo hip surgery, out for regular season

Kesler has six goals and 10 assists in 48 games this season, mostly while centring the Canucks’ third line. The 22-year-old Michigan native was experiencing soreness in his hip before the recent all-star break, but was expected to play through it.

That changed after consulting Dr. Marc Philippon, who also performed hip surgery on Canucks centre Brendan Morrison last summer.

Kesler is expected to miss 12 to 16 weeks.
