Canucks says talks continuing with all-star goalie Roberto Luongo

VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks are close to signing all-star goaltender Roberto Luongo to a contract extension.

“Negotiations are on-going and we are confident we will reach an agreement before training camp,” a Canuck official said Monday in an email to The Canadian Press.

Luongo, 30, has one year remaining on his current four-year, US$27-million deal. He said last week during the Team Canada 2010 Olympic orientation camp he wanted a new deal in place before training camp opens Sept. 12.
