Capitals defenceman Orlov suspended 2 games for boarding Flyers forward Schenn

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The NHL has suspended Washington Capitals defenceman Dmitry Orlov for two games for boarding Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn.

Orlov launched himself from the ice and hit Schenn from behind in the third period of Philadelphia’s 5-4 overtime win over Washington on Sunday.

Orlov was given a major penalty on the play. Schenn remained in the game after the hit.

Orlov, who has no history of fines and suspensions in the NHL, will lose US$7,076.92 in salary.
