Chicago Blackhawks re-sign defencemen Jim Vandermeer to one-year deal

Vandermeer will earn US$1.225 million while Richmond will make $602,000 and Brodeur $495,000.

Vandermeer, 27, had a goal and six assists 46 games last season. He broke his leg in a game against Nashville on Jan. 26 and missed the rest of the season. He has 14 goals and 37 assists in 192 career NHL games.

Richmond, 23, had two assists in 22 games with the Blackhawks last season. He added 10 goals and 24 assists for the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Brodeur, 24, went 4-3-0 with a 3.39 goals-against average for Norfolk. He also spent time with August of the ECHL.
