Chicago Blackhawks to open Europe visit versus Swiss champ Davos

ZURICH, Switzerland – The Chicago Blackhawks will play Swiss champion Davos to begin its first European visit in 17 years, the International Ice Hockey Federation said Wednesday.

The Sept. 28 exhibition game in Zurich is a warm-up for the Victoria Cup challenge match the next night when Chicago plays the European champion Zurich Lions.

Both contests will be played at the 11,000-capacity Hallenstadion arena.

Two former Blackhawks forwards are likely to be in the Davos lineup: Josef Marha of the Czech Republic and Reto von Arx, who was the first Swiss player to score a goal in the NHL when he played for Chicago in the 2000-01 season.
