The 27-year-old Chicago Wolves forward was named the American Hockey League’s MVP on Friday. Heading into the final weekend of the season, Haydar led the league with 116 points.
He had a league-record 39-game point scoring streak this year.
“It’s a great honour but wouldn’t be possible without the help of my teammates,” said Haydar. “At the end of the day, we play this game for the team prize, not the individual accomplishments.”
Haydar had at least a point in 61 of the 70 games he has played. The Toronto native was the league’s rookie of the year in 2002-03 and won the Calder Cup with Milwaukee in 2004.
