Chip fracture in left thumb puts Blue Jackets defenceman Mike Commodore on IR

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenceman Mike Commodore on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 9 with a chip fracture in his left thumb.

The club also added defenceman Nick Holden to the roster on emergency recall from the minor league affiliate Springfield Falcons.

General manager Scott Howson announced the moves on Tuesday.

Commodore suffered the injury in the second game of the season against San Jose in Stockholm. He is listed day to day.

In two games this season, he was scoreless with nine penalty minutes. He has 21 goals, 77 assists and 610 penalty minutes in 436 career games with New Jersey, Calgary, Carolina, Ottawa and the Blue Jackets.

The 23-year-old Holden has one goal and six penalty minutes in six games with the Falcons this season.
