Corey Locke scores in overtime as Bulldogs defeat Monsters 2-1

HAMILTON – Jaroslav Halak turned aside 31 of 32 shots and Corey Locke scored at 4:27 of overtime to lift the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over the Lake Erie Monsters in American Hockey League action Wednesday night.

Locke fired a wrist shot over the shoulder of Monsters’ goaltender Mike Wall. The goal was Locke’s 18th of the season and his team-leading fourth game-winner. Lake Erie opened the scoring 54 seconds into the first period when Philippe Dupuis notched his 11th goal of the season.

Eric Manlow tied the game at 11:08 of the first. That goal ended Hamilton’s franchise-long home goalless drought at 151 minutes, 55 seconds.

Halak picked up his 10th win of the season for Hamilton (22-19-1-5) while Wall made 32 saves on 34 shots in a losing effort for Lake Erie (16-21-4-6).

The Bulldogs were 0-for-2 with the man advantage while the Monsters went 0-for-3 on the power play.
