Coyotes hope to stay sharp against Blues

Phoenix (12-11-2) at St. Louis (10-11-3) 8:30 p.m. EST

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) — The Phoenix Coyotes are above .500 and
looking to stay that way.

The Coyotes will go in search of a third straight win when they
face the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

A six-game losing streak brought back visions of the team that
has finished in one of the bottom two positions in the Western
Conference in each of the last six seasons. Phoenix, however,
has looked impressive in winning four of its last five games.

The Coyotes put together their best offensive performance on
Thursday when they cruised to a 6-3 win over the Toronto Maple
Leafs. Martin Hanzal recorded a hat trick and Steve Reinprecht
added a pair of goals.

Phoenix has not allowed more than three goals in any of its last
five contests. Mikael Tellqvist has done the bulk of the
goaltending over that span, picking up three wins.

The Blues have not been nearly as fortunate, going 1-3-1 over
their last five. The second-lowest scoring team in the Western
Conference, St. Louis has totaled 12 goals over that span.

The Blues dropped a 4-3 decision in overtime to the Calgary
Flames on Friday when Chris Mason allowed an overtime tally.
St. Louis did not get a shot off in the extra session.
