TORONTO – Joey Crabb scored the only shootout goal as the Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-3 on Sunday in the American Hockey League.
Keith Aulie, with two, and Mike Zigomanis also scored for Marlies (16-13-4), while Jussi Rynnas made 28 saves in regulation.
Kyle Klubertanz scored twice and Dustin Boyd added a single for Bulldogs (19-9-4).
The Marlies opened the game’s scoring at 9:31 of the first frame when Aulie received the puck from Jay Rosehill before blasting a shot from the left point past Hamilton starter Curtis Sanford.
The Bulldogs tied it at 11:44 as Andrew Conboy skated behind the net, sent the puck to Gabriel Dumont, who dropped the puck to a waiting Klubertanz.
Zigomanis regained the Marlies lead at 3:19 of the second, redirecting a slap shot by Korbinian Holzer.
Klubertanz scored his second goal 33 seconds later when he one-timed shot that beat Rynnas through the pads.
The Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead at 6:40 with a power-play goal. David Desharnais skated behind the Toronto net before feeding the puck to the slot where Boyd one-timed it past Rynnas.
Aulie notched his second just four minutes later to tie it, as Justin Hodgman sent the puck to Mueller, who waited patiently before dishing it Aulie, who skated into the slot and tapped the puck past Sanford.
Sanford 19 saves in regulation for Hamilton.
