Curtis Sanford makes 25 saves to lead Bulldogs to 5-0 win over IceHogs

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Curtis Sanford made 25 saves and Brock Trotter scored twice for Hamilton as the Bulldogs shut out the Rockford IceHogs 5-0 in American Hockey League play Wednesday.

Greg Stewart, Grant Stevenson and Andrew Conboy also scored for Hamilton (28-12-7), while Shawn Belle added two assists.

Corey Crawford started for Rockford (26-19-5), and finished with 17 saves. He was pulled early in the third after Hamilton’s fourth goal. Joe Fallon went the rest of the way and finished with nine stops.

The Bulldogs got on the board at 7:49 of the first period when Stewart redirected a shot from Matt D’Agostini.

Hamilton took a 2-0 lead at 11:36 of the second when Stevenson rifled off the crossbar past Crawford.

Trotter made it 3-0 at 13:29 after he beat Crawford blocker side.

Trotter scored his second at 1:26 of the third off a Max Pacioretty rebound.

The Bulldogs beat Fallon for their fifth goal at 14:15 after Conboy knocked in a rebound off a shot from Belle.
