NEW YORK – Detroit Red Wings centre Pavel Datsyuk was named the NHL’s first star after collecting a goal and six assists for a league-leading seven points in four games last week.
Calgary Flames left-winger Mike Cammalleri was chosen second star while Atlanta Thrashers centre Rich Peverley claimed third star honours.
Datsyuk posted a goal and two assists in a 5-4 overtime loss at Dallas on Jan. 12, picked up two assists in a 4-3 win over Anaheim on Jan. 14 and added two more helpers in a 6-5 loss to San Jose on Saturday.
Cammalleri scored five goals with an assist in four games for the Flames. He had a pair of two-goal games, in a 3-1 victory over St. Louis on Jan. 13 and in a 4-3 loss to Phoenix on Saturday.
Peverley, a waiver claim from Nashville on Jan. 10, had a goal and five assists and a plus-5 rating. He scored overtime winner and added two assists in a 4-3 victory over Toronto on Friday and closed the week with three assists in a 7-2 win over his former team.
