Desharnais has knee injury, Wisniewski game-time decision for Canadiens

MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens will be without centre David Desharnais and may be missing defenceman James Wisniewski for Game 6 of their NHL playoff series against the Boston Bruins.

The Canadian Press has learned that Desharnais has a sprained left knee and is expected to be out of action four to six weeks.

Neither player took part in an optional skate on Tuesday morning.

Wisniewski appeared to have back problems during Game 5 on Saturday night in Boston. He left in the second period but was able to return in overtime.

Coach Jacques Martin did not confirm the Desharnais injury and said game-time decisions would be made on whether either would play.

Defenceman Yannick Weber is expected to dress as a forward and may also play the point on the power play if Wisniewski can’t play. Veteran defenceman Paul Mara may also get in the lineup.

Boston leads the best-of-seven series 3-2.
