Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Kopecky has surgery on left knee

DETROIT – Red Wings forward Tomas Kopecky had surgery on his left knee and is expected to be ready for the start of next season.

The team said Tuesday his torn anterior cruciate ligament was successfully repaired, but he will need four to six months to recover. Kopecky was hurt April 3 during a game against Columbus.

In 77 regular-season games, Kopecky had five goals and seven assists for 12 points.

The top-seeded Red Wings defeated the Nashville Predators in their NHL Western Conference quarter-final.
