Edmonton Oilers re-sign centre Gilbert Brule to two-year contract

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed centre Gilbert Brule to a two-year contract.

Brule had 17 goals and 20 assists in 65 games with the Oilers last season.

“Gilbert made a big step last year in his development,” Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini said in a statement. “We are excited to have him here in Edmonton and look forward to his continued contribution to the team.”

Brule was acquired from Columbus in exchange for Raffi Torres in July 2008.

In 222 career NHL games, Brule has 72 points (31 goals, 41 assists).
