Edmonton Oilers recall Potulny, place Stortini on injured reserve

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers placed tough guy Zach Stortini on injured reserve Sunday and recalled Ryan Potulny from Springfield of the American Hockey League.

Stortini suffered a lower body injury on Friday after falling awkwardly at the end of a fight with San Jose’s Brad Staubitz. He has a goal and two assists in 28 games this season and tops the Oilers with 111 penalty minutes.

Potulny leads Springfield in scoring with 31 points in 36 games. He signed a one-year deal with Edmonton over the summer and has yet to play for the team.

In 44 career NHL games with Philadelphia, the 24-year-old has seven goals and 14 points.
