Edmonton Oilers sign veteran goaltender Martin Gerber to one-year deal

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers have signed veteran goaltender Martin Gerber to a one-year contract.

The 35-year-old Swiss netminder spent last season with Altant Moscow of the Continental Hockey League. In 30 appearances, he went 15-6-6 with a 2.19 goals-against average and .914 save percentage.

In 226 career NHL games with Anaheim, Carolina, Ottawa and Toronto, Gerber has a 110-78-21 record, 2.65 GAA and .910 save percentage.

Gerber also played for Switzerland at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.

Gerber joins Nikolai Khabibulin, Jeff Deslauriers and Devan Dubnyk in Edmonton’s goaltending stable.
