Ersberg, Kings seeking third straight win

San Jose (24-3-2) at Los Angeles (13-12-4), 10:30 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) — Erik Ersberg appears to have the Los
Angeles Kings moving in the right direction. But the goaltender
will now have to keep it going against the NHL’s best team.

Ersberg will attempt to lead the Kings to their third
consecutive victory Monday when they face the red-hot San Jose

The 26-year-old Ersberg has put together a pair of nice
performances, combining for 59 saves on 62 shots in wins over
the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild on Thursday and Saturday,

It won’t be easy to keep that trend going against the Sharks,
who have scored a league-best 109 goals this season. San Jose
also hasn’t lost in regulation since November 9, posting an
11-0-2 record over that stretch.

The Sharks tied an NHL record for the fastest team to reach 50
points in a season when they overcame a two-goal deficit to
defeat the St. Louis Blues, 5-4, on Saturday. In just 29
contests, they matched the mark set by the 1929-30 Boston

Captain Patrick Marleau scored two goals – including the
game-winner – and set up another and Joe Thornton added three
assists Saturday for San Jose, which is 7-0-1 since goaltender
Evgeni Nabokov returned after missing seven contests.
