How has it been playing with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane?
Mary Smith, Pittsburgh
It’s a lot of fun. They’re pretty impressive with what they can do on the ice at such a young age. They’re about 20 years old right now and have had a lot to do with the turnaround in the city of Chicago. I’m happy to be their teammate.
What sort of things do you do to get a scoring opportunity while shorthanded?
Rafal Ladysz, Windsor, Ont.
I try to anticipate the play a little bit and use my speed to create scoring opportunities for myself. The most important thing about the penalty kill is to stop the other team from scoring, but if I ever get a chance to go the other way, I like to take it.
Who is the hardest goalie to score on?
Ethan Johnston, Mississauga, Ont.
I’ll say Henrik Lundqvist. He’s so big in there and he moves so well. Him and Ryan Miller. Good thing they’re in the Eastern Conference and I don’t have to play against them very often.
Who is the hardest player in the NHL to play against?
Clayton Arthurs, Vancouver
Pavel Datsyuk. He’s one of those guys who can go through you or around you. You can never know what he’s going to do with the puck. He’s got such great hands and he sees the ice so well.
Who was your favorite NHLer growing up?
Eric Walker, Sarnia, Ont.
Mike Modano. I asked for a stick a while back and he gave me one. I told him he’s my favourite, but I don’t know if he heard me or understood me.
What do you eat before games?
Cameron Boileau, New Liskard, Ont.
Pretty standard for a hockey player: pasta, chicken and a little bit of rice.
Does your diet differ in the off-season and if so, how does it affect your weight?
Tammo Llotz, Leipzig, Germany
My weight usually stays the same throughout the whole year. I do eat a little healthier in the off-season because I’m not burning off as many calories, so my diet does change a little bit. During the season you can get away with eating a bowl of ice cream here or there or binging a little bit.
What kind music do you listen to?
Zac Matthews, Jordan Station, Ont.
Pearl Jam is my favorite band and they have been for as long as I can remember, so that’s basically 75 percent of what’s on my IPod.
How do you feel being one of the most underrated players in the league?
David, Bridgeport, Ont.
That’s a nice compliment, I guess. But I don’t put much attention into that, either being underrated or overrated. I try to play the way I know I can and do the things I feel I’m capable of doing.
Do you consider yourself a sniper?
Glen Cuthbert, Hamilton, Ont.
No. I’ve worked really hard to become an offensive distributor in the NHL, but as far as being a sniper, I think guys like Ilya Kovalchuk and Dany Heatley are snipers.
What is the best part of your game?
Alex McDonald, Sewell, New Jersey
My skating ability. It allows me to take some chances and if things don’t turn out the way I hope, I can use my speed to get back into the play and it allows me to get to loose pucks quicker.
