Flames look to end drought in Anaheim

Calgary (31-18-4) at Anaheim (27-24-5), 10:00 pm EST

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) — For over five years, the Calgary
Flames have not enjoyed playing on “The Pond.”

The Flames will try to snap an eight-game losing streak at the
Honda Center when they visit the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.

Calgary has not won in Anaheim since January 19, 2004. In its
only other visit to the Honda Center this season, the Flames
were handed a 3-2 loss.

Matthew Lombardi and Dustin Boyd each netted a shorthanded goal
in the second period as Calgary snapped a four-game losing
streak Monday with a 6-2 triumph over the Montreal Canadiens.

Mike Cammalleri and Rene Bourque each recorded a goal and an
assist and defenseman Dion Phaneuf and David Moss also tallied
for the Flames, who suffered a 2-1 loss to the Ducks in Calgary
on Saturday.

All-Star Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who has been in and out of the
lineup recently due to his struggles in net, made 26 saves in
that one.

Making his eighth start in the calendar year, the former Conn
Smythe Trophy winner won for just the second time in his last 11

“I was able to see the puck very well,” Giguere said. “No
turnovers, and the guys kept the puck to the outside.
Altogether, we played a great game against a great team. I was
seeing the puck very well and the guys did a good job moving
guys from in front of the net. It was a great road game.”
