Flames struggles at home a surprise

Anaheim (18-13-3) at Calgary (18-11-4) 9:00 p.m. EST

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) — The Calgary Flames’ home venue has
been a house of horror during their last three games there.

The Flames look to avoid their first four-game losing streak at
the Pengrowth Saddledome in just over six years on Tuesday when
they host the road-weary Anaheim Ducks.

Calgary opened its season high, five-game homestand with a 3-2
loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, dropping to 0-1-2 over
its previous three games at its friendly confines.

After posting a 9-3-1 record in their first 13 home games, the
Flames are in danger of dropping four straight at the Saddledome
for the first time since November 14-21, 2002.

The biggest reason for Calgary’s recent struggles at home have
been an inability to cash in on the power play. The Flames were
0-for-4 with the man-advantage against the Blackhawks and have
failed to score on 10 straight power plays at home.

A meeting with the Ducks may help get Calgary back on track.

The Flames have won eight of their last 10 home games against
Anaheim, which fell to 1-4-0 on the road in December following a
4-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Monday.

The Ducks’ lone win away from home this month came during a 3-2
shootout victory against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.
