The defenseman suffered an upper body injury as a result of a hit in the first period and did not return to the game.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Nick Schultz suffered an upper body injury during the first period on Saturday in New York, the team announced.
Schultz took a big hit from Rangers’ blue liner Dylan McIlrath at 10:58 of the first period and did not return to the game.
Prior to leaving the game, Schultz had 3:44 of ice time on five shifts and registered one shot on goal.
As CSNPhilly.com’s Tim Panaccio noted, Schultz appeared wobbly following the hit likely meaning the 33-year-old suffered a concussion on the play.
Schultz has appeared in all 24 games for the Flyers, registering one assist while averaging 18:22 of ice time. He leads all Flyers defensemen in blocked shots (54).
