For love, not money

Stephanie Marks, Winnipeg, Man.

My family recently drove nine hours to see our New Jersey Devils play against the Minnesota Wild.

We have been fans for 19 years, since I was born, and it was a great moment for us to finally watch Martin Brodeur play.

The entire experience was absolutely fantastic.  We were able to go down and watch the pre-game skate and get very close to everyone.

The one thing that made me very disappointed, though, is that the players were not allowed to give autographs.  At first we thought there had to be something we could do, but when talking to a team worker we learned that their agents prevent them from signing autographs now because they can be sold for money.

Not everybody is out to get money; some people just want to have a memento that will last forever.
