Free agent Sergei Zubov signs on with St. Petersburg of the KHL

Free agent defenseman Sergei Zubov has decided to pack up and head back to Russia with his hockey career.

The 39-year-old signed a deal with SKA St. Petersburg of the Kontinental League, concluding a 16-year NHL career that included two Stanley Cups – one with Dallas and one with the Rangers.

Originally selected by the Rangers 85th overall in the 1990 draft, Zubov is known as one of the best puck-moving defensemen to ever come out of Russia. Over 1,068 NHL games, Zubov tallied 152 goals and 771 points.
