Gaborik, Garon and Hartnell named NHL three stars of the week

NEW YORK – Minnesota Wild right-winger Marian Gaborik, Edmonton Oilers goalie Mathieu Garon and Philadelphia Flyers left-winger Scott Hartnell were named the NHL’s three stars of the week Monday.

Gaborik was named first star after recording eight points (four goals, four assists) and a plus-9 rating as the Wild won three of four games last week.

“Well, it’s always nice, and I appreciate this award,” Gaborik said in a conference call Monday. “It only happens when we’re winning, and that’s the most important thing.”

Hartnell was named third star after posting eight points (5-3) in four games. He notched his second career hat trick in a 6-2 win over the New York Rangers last Thursday.
