First Hockey Memory: “You’re taking me back a long time ago [smiles]. I started skating at four years old and I had an older brother (Danny) fourteen months older. My dad took us to the outdoor rinks. We just learned how to skate and play hockey. Just fell in love with the game right away.”
Hockey Inspirations: “My mom’s brother played in the NHL – Daniel Marois. He played in Toronto, with Boston and with the Islanders. So he had a pretty long career. I guess it was in the family blood.”
Last Book Read: “I don’t read. So I haven’t read a book in forever.”
Current Car: “I’ve got a Jeep Cherokee SRT and a Mercedes G63.”
Greatest Sports Moment: “I won back-to-back Calder Cups in my first two years in the American Hockey League. Winning championships is the best thing ever. Those are the best memories in hockey for me.”
Most Painful Moment: “I guess last year when I broke my ankle. I was out for a long time and it was painful. (From a shot?) No, I got hit and jammed my foot into the boards. And I just twisted. (Who did it?) I don’t remember. It was in Edmonton.”
Favorite Sport Outside Hockey: “Golf.”
Favorite Rinks To Play: “Bell Center, Montreal.”
Most Memorable Goal: “Last year I scored four goals in one game. That fourth goal was kind of the most memorable for me. (Against who?) Four goals against Florida Panthers.”
Funniest Players Encountered: “Jason Chimera. (Why him?) He’s just a funny guy. He had us laughing every day.”
Why Do You Love Hockey: “Just love the game. Just grew up into it. And that’s all I wanted to do my whole life. And still all I want to do.”
Three Athletes You Like To Watch & Follow: “Jordan Spieth. I’m a big time golf fan. I’ll go with Ricky Fowler. And probably Rory McIlroy.”
Favorite Uniforms: “I’d say I like Detroit Red Wings.”
First Famous Player You Met or Encountered: “It’d be my uncle, right? He played in the NHL. So that’d be him.”
Strangest Game: “It was in Hershey. Teddy Bear Night. There was like 10,000 people. So many teddy bears. Took like a half hour to clean it up. “
Personality Qualities Most Admired: “I like people that can laugh at themselves. Joke around, don’t take everything too seriously. And enjoy life. That’d be my type of person.”
