Giguere, Ducks look to bounce back against Panthers

Florida (4-8-1) at Anaheim (9-6-1), 8:00 pm EDT

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) — The Anaheim Ducks aren’t going
to let a tough loss put a damper on the hot streak that had
eased the sting of a poor start.

Looking to bounce back from a defeat, the Ducks can win for the
ninth time in 11 games when they host the struggling Florida
Panthers on Sunday.

After beginning with one win in its first six games, Anaheim won
eight of nine before falling to the Pacific Division rival
Dallas Stars, 5-2, on Friday. Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere
was pulled midway through the second period in favor of backup
Jonas Hiller after putting the Ducks in a 4-1 hole.

The owner of a 2.12 goals-against average last season, Giguere
has given up four or more goals eight times this season over 14
starts and has a shoddy 3.06 GAA.

Similar to the Ducks’ start to the season, things could not be
any worse for the Panthers. They have dropped six straight,
with half of those losses coming by one goal. To make matters
worse, they have scored just nine times in that span.

Florida was burned by its former captain, Olli Jokinen, and the
Phoenix Coyotes, 4-1, in its latest game on Saturday. The
Panthers dealt Jokinen, their top scorer every season since
2002-03, to Phoenix in June after the Finn became the
franchise’s all-time points leader with 419.
