Give Ovie his Olympics

Jordan Philbert, Sherbrooke, Que.

I recently learned Alex Ovechkin wants to play the 2014 Olympics no matter what. The NHL has different plans, but that is not new at all.

Now since Ovechkin is willing to risk suspension to play in the Olympics in his home country of Russia, that is saying something to the NHL.

I am very glad Ovechkin is stepping up to play in his home country in 2014. It would be like not letting Sid The Kid or Vinny Lecavalier play in Vancouver this year.

I know most people think NHL players shouldn’t play in the Olympics, but I am one to disagree. This is a two-week period we get every four years to see the most dominant players in the world come into one tournament and play against one another.
