Hamilton Bulldogs down Abbotsford Heat 2-1 in AHL action

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – The Hamilton Bulldogs picked up a 2-1 win over the Abbotsford Heat in American Hockey League action Wednesday night.

Hamilton (10-3-4) took a 2-0 lead early in the second when David Desharnais completed a 2-on-1 with Mike Glumac, beating Heat netminder Matt Keetley.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the late in first when J.T. Wyman redirected a Brock Trotter pass past Keetley.

Abbotsford (10-8-3) outshot the Bulldogs 34-31, but only managed to get one past Curtis Sanford with Keith Seabrook cutting the Hamilton lead in half in the second.

The Heat defenceman’s point shot deflected off a Hamilton player, beating Sanford for his fourth of the season.

Abbotsford had a few close chances late in the third including a partial breakaway for Jason Jaffray in the dying seconds, but they couldn’t solve Sanford.

Sanford (6-2-2) turned aside 32 shots in the win, while Keetly (0-2-0) made 29 saves in the loss.
