Any great play that victimizes a team from Alberta gets a bit of an asterisk this year, as both the Flames and Oilers are wretched. But Winnipeg rookie defenseman Jacob Trouba looked like a savvy vet on this goal, turning Calgary’s Matt Stajan into a pylon and ripping one past Reto Berra.

Given that Trouba’s greatest strength is his size and shutdown ability, seeing this offensive burst at the pro level bodes well for the freshman’s future.
