Hossa, Red Wings looking to build off win

DETROIT (Ticker) — Now that their worst slide of the season is
over, Marian Hossa and the Detroit Red Wings are looking

Hossa and the defending Stanley Cup champion Red Wings will host
the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old Hossa netted the decisive goal in the shootout
after scoring twice in regulation on Monday as Detroit snapped a
five-game losing skid with a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis

“The No. 1 thing everybody thought about was to finally get the
win,” Hossa said. “It doesn’t matter how ugly or how pretty it
was. We finally ended the losing streak and now we can build on

A 10-year veteran, Hossa leads the club with 26 goals this
season – his first with the Red Wings.

The Coyotes were handed their fourth straight loss, suffering a
2-1 setback to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. Joel
Perrault netted his first goal of the season to snap Phoenix’s
scoreless streak at 187 minutes, 6 seconds.

Ilya Bryzgalov turned aside 22 shots for the Coyotes, who fell
to 1-5-0 in their last six contests.
