Hurricanes winger Andrew Ladd recovering from emergency appendectomy

The surgery was performed Thursday and Ladd was at home recovering Friday. The Hurricanes recalled forward Keith Aucoin from the AHL’s Albany River Rats to fill Ladd’s roster spot.

Ladd, 21, had three goals and two assists in 27 games this season, his second in the NHL. The native of Maple Ridge, B.C., was Carolina’s first pick, fourth overall, in the 2004 NHL entry draft.
