The win gives the Moose a sweep of the two-game series. Manitoba won 4-2 on Monday. The Knights Jason Jaffray took advantage of a miscommunication in the Knights’ defensive end, banking the puck off a skate for a 1-0 lead just 43 seconds into the game. That lead ballooned to 2-0 seven seconds later when Lee Goren ripped a shot past goalie Curtis McElhinney.
The Knights got into penalty trouble later in the period. With two men in the box, Jaffray tucked in a rebound of his own shot to make it 3-0 after one period.
The Moose stretched their lead to 4-0 late in the second period. Off a scramble in front of the Knights’ net, Colby Genoway poked in his ninth goal of the year.
But 1:27 later, the Knights finally got on the scoreboard when Dustin Boyd knocked one in to make it 4-1 after two periods.
Neither team would find the net in the third period.
The Knights drop to 30-18-3-1, while the Moose are now 27-16-7-4.
