Here’s hoping Jimmy Devellano, senior vice-president of the Detroit Red Wings, gets serious consideration for induction into the Builders Category of the Hockey Hall of Fame this fall.
Devellano has been involved with the NHL for over 40 years, holding such positions as chief scout, GM and alternate governor. During that time he has been a major part of six Stanley Cups (three each with the Islanders and Red Wings), three Calder Cups, two Adams Cups and one Riley Cup. He was also very much responsible for drafting players such as Steve Yzerman, Sergei Fedorov, Nicklas Lidstrom and many of those who were on the four Cup-winning Islander teams.
His contributions to pro hockey should not be overlooked.
