Jonathan Drouin leaves game with “concussion-like” symptoms after hit from behind.
Canada’s world juniors brain trust is holding its collective breath.
Jonathan Drouin may have sustained a concussion after Adam Erne of the Quebec Remparts drove Drouin into the glass from behind during Quebec League action Friday evening.
Drouin, 18, went straight to the Halifax Mooseheads dressing room and will be re-evaluated Saturday. Erne earned a five-minute major and a game misconduct.
Losing Drouin would mean that Canada will have to do without yet another star forward for the World Junior Championship in Malmo, Sweden. Both Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche) and Sean Monahan (Calgary Flames) are staying with their respective NHL teams. The Tampa Bay Lightning drafted Drouin No. 3 overall in the 2013 draft.
