Juniors Leblanc, Tinordi among 18 cut from Montreal Canadiens camp

MONTREAL – Junior prospects Louis Leblanc and Jarred Tinordi were among 18 players cut from the Montreal Canadiens camp on Monday.

Leblanc will return to the Montreal Juniors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League while Tinordi will join the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Canadiens also assigned 16 players to Hamilton of the American Hockey League. The Bulldogs open camp Tuesday in Newfoundland, where they will play three pre-season games against Ottawa’s top farm club, the Binghamton Senators.

The players assigned were goaltender Robert Mayer; defencemen Neil Petruic, Kyle Klubertanz, Brendon Nash, Frederic St-Denis, David Urquhart, Sebastien Bisaillon and Marc-Antoine Desnoyers; and forwards Alexander Avtsin, James Wyman, Jimmy Bonneau, Andrew Conboy, Dany Masse, Olivier Fortier, Ian Schultz and Aaron Palushaj.

Thirty-six players remain in camp.

The team also announced that forward Maxim Lapierre has won the Jean Beliveau Trophy for his charitable work and community involvement.
