Bernier, 18, was the highest ranked North American goaltender in the 2006 draft and one of the Kings’ two first-round draft choices, along with forward Trevor Lewis.
He has played in eight regular season games this season with the Lewiston Maineiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, going 4-3-1 with one shutout, a 2.73 goals-against average and a .881 save percentage.
Bernier, the younger brother of Canucks forward Marc Andre Bernier, was selected to the 2006 CHL Top Prospects Game in Ottawa and was a member of Team Canada for the 2006 Under-18 World Championships.
