Kiprusoff, Flames look to stymie rolling Red Wings

Detroit (13-2-3) at Calgary (11-8-1), 10:00 pm EST

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) — Miikka Kiprusoff has enjoyed a
stretch of solid games in goal for the Calgary Flames. However,
he will be put to the test against the NHL’s strongest road

Armed with a 9-1-1 record away from Joe Louis Arena, the Detroit
Red Wings hope to solve Kiprusoff and the Flames when the teams
meet on Saturday.

Kiprusoff is coming off consecutive victories over the Colorado
Avalanche, including a 1-0 blanking on Thursday during which he
faced a season-low 18 shots. Two days earlier, he turned aside
22 shots en route to a 4-1 win.

Kiprusoff has gone 113 consecutive minutes without allowing a
goal, but will have to shut down the Red Wings’ prolific offense
in order to extend that mark. Detroit has been held under three
goals twice this season and has outscored its opponents, 15-8,
during its current four-game winning streak.

The Red Wings also rank second in the NHL in goals (68), behind
fellow Western Conference heavyweight San Jose Sharks (73).

Calgary’s offense has sputtered lately, notching just one goal
in four of its last six games. That has not kept captain Jarome
Iginla from maintaining his position as one the league’s most
electric playmakers. Iginla has posted five goals and 11 points
in his last 10 contests.

He notched his 400th career assist on Daymond Langkow’s goal in
the win over Colorado on Thursday.
