Ethan Dorval from Berlin, N.H., asks How do you get a hard, accurate wrist shot?
With new technology, the sticks help a lot. I’ve played with some pretty good shooters – Brett Hull, he had so much flex if you just put a little on it, the torque will carry the shot through. Getting bigger and stronger helps, too.
Nick Giarrusso from Warwick, R.I., asks When you play against Darren McCarty now, is the same intensity there?
Not really. We’re such good friends, you have a smile on your face when you’re out there. The first game, he lined me up and I just got out of the way. The next shift he nailed Kirk Maltby, looked over at me and said, “You’re next.”
Kris Tracey from Port Coquitlam, B.C., asks As a penalty killer, do you ever give the Detroit power play tips on what’s hard to defend against?
Yeah, I’ve talked to Nicklas Lidstrom and Mathieu Schneider before on what I find is tough to defend against, but our power play has a lot of confidence.
Brad MacDonald from Elmvale, Ont. asks What was it like pulling on the Team Canada jersey and playing for your country?
It was unbelievable. I’ve been very fortunate to represent my country several times. The ultimate thrill was the Olympics. We didn’t get the result we wanted, but it was still exciting.
