EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – The Los Angeles Kings have activated defenceman Drew Doughty from injured reserve after a five-game absence with an upper-body injury.
The Kings assigned defenceman Slava Voynov to their AHL affiliate in Manchester to make room for Doughty, who is expected to play Saturday night at Phoenix.
Doughty scored one point in his first four regular-season games before getting hurt in a game at Philadelphia on Oct. 15. The 21-year-old held out through much of training camp before signing a US$56 million contract to stay with the Kings.
Doughty was the second-youngest finalist for the Norris Trophy in NHL history in 2010.
Voynov had two goals and an assist while playing in his first five NHL games with the Kings over the past two weeks.
