Larry Robinson and Bob Gainey will have their numbers retired this season by the Montreal Canadiens, a source told The Canadian Press. Team president Pierre Boivin was to make the official announcement at a 4 p.m. news conference.
Robinson’s ceremony will be Nov. 19 against the Ottawa Senators while Gainey, the team’s GM, will have his night Feb. 23 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Last season the Habs retired the numbers of Ken Dryden, No. 29, and Serge Savard, No. 18.
