Last-place teams square off as Ducks take on Senators

Anaheim (2-5) at Ottawa (2-3-1) 7:00 p.m. EDT

OTTAWA (Ticker) — With a little help from his offense,
Jean-Sebastien Giguere carried the Anaheim Ducks to their second
win in three games

Giguere and the Ducks will hope to benefit a few more scoring
chances when they take on the Ottawa Senators on Friday.

Anaheim jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Toronto on Wednesday,
but only recorded four shots in the second period – and none in
the third.

The 2002-03 Conn Smythe winner, Giguere made 36 saves and turned
aside both shootout attempts as the Ducks escaped with a 3-2

On the other hand, Ottawa was held to just three shots in the
first period against Florida on Wednesday before notching 26
shots in the third period in a 3-1 loss to the Panthers.

Backup goaltender Alex Auld may get the start in net for the
Senators Friday, his second of the season. Auld turned aside 30
shots in Ottawa’s 3-1 triumph over the Pittsburgh Penguins on
October 5.

Martin Gerber, who has allowed three goals or more in each of
his five starts, will be in goal when the Senators open a
four-game road trip in Toronto on Saturday.
