Legace, Blues seek to end five-game skid vs. Sabres

St. Louis (5-7-1) at Boston (8-3-3) 7:00 pm. EST

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) — Manny Legace looks to shake off
the rust and help the St. Louis Blues snap a five-game losing
streak against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday.

Legace was not sharp in his first game since October 24 on
Saturday and the Blues suffered a 5-3 setback to the Los Angeles
Kings. A first-time All-Star last season, Legace stopped 27
shots, but allowed three power-play goals.

The star goaltender suffered a strained hip flexor last month
when he slipped and fell on a carpet for vice-presidential
candidate Sarah Palin during a pre-game ceremony.

The Blues hope he can round back into form and help them end an
0-4-1 slide. It is St. Louis’ longest losing streak since going
0-4-2 from May 5-15 of last season. Legace has had success
against the Sabres, going 3-0-0 with a 2.92 goal-against average
in four games vs. Buffalo.

Legace and the Blues will have to try to slow down Thomas Vanek,
who leads the league with 12 goals.

Vanek and the Sabres look to bounce back from their first
regulation loss of the season. Buffalo allowed three unanswered
goals in a 3-1 loss to Boston Saturday. It was the second
straight setback for the Sabres, who fell, 5-4, in overtime to
Atlanta the previous night.
