Maple Leafs assign Joe Colborne to AHL, clear room for Armstrong’s return

TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs assigned forward Joe Colborne to their American Hockey League affiliate on Thursday.

Colborne had a goal and three assists in nine games since being called up from the Toronto Marlies on Nov. 19.

The move clears a roster space for right-winger Colby Armstrong. He hasn’t played since Oct. 19 due to an injured left ankle, but is expected to be ready for Toronto’s road game against the Washington Capitals on Friday.
